The Yao ethnic women from the village of Huangluo in China is a testament to this tradition of rinsing your hair with rice water. Rice water has amazing hair benefits. And they are proven by modern science. A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Chemists found that rice water applied to hair can reduce surface friction and improve hair elasticity. What this means is when you apply rice water to your hair it will make combing and detangling, thus reducing hair breakage.
Another amazing thing about rice water is that it has inositol, a carbohydrate, which can repair damaged hair.
